QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor s Degree in business or similar discipline or equivalent required. Five (5) years relevant business experience required. A thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of business operations required. Knowledge in specialized business areas such as marketing, accounting, finance or International Trade required. Entrepreneurial experience in owning and operating at least one small business preferred. Master s degree and bilingual preferred. Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities. Understand how to work successfully as a team within all levels of the organization and know how to contribute to the mission of the college. JOB DESCRIPTION: The position will report to the Director of the Small Business Development Center for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following: Advise clients throughout the Angelina College SBDC service area with a concentration in the North Lufkin area or through on-site visits to clients and prospective clients; Prepare detailed report on each advising session and enter information into the center s client management software; Assist clients in analyzing business strengths and weaknesses and developing appropriate strategies. Communicate with clients as needed including extensive follow-up with each active client; Assess client s management and technical education needs and recommend appropriate training classes; Assist in developing and updating specialized training classes and materials for individual clients or groups; Conduct training seminars or presentations as required; Participate in public relations activities, make speeches and presentations, serve on various committees, etc.; Increase visibility of the Angelina College SBDC through civic involvement; Remain informed on changes in laws and regulations applicable to area of specialization; Assist the director as needed with a variety of duties and responsibilities; Perform duties to enhance the Angelina College SBDC s progress toward attaining its Key Performance Indicators; Attend Professional Development seminars and staff meetings in Houston as scheduled; and Attend ASBDC national conference annually as the center s budget allows.
